Welcome to Robert Harriss!! We are glad to have you aboard as Jukes the Pirate!

Ahoy thar, mateys!

Here be the rehearsal report for all ye salty dogs!

(Sorry.....it's "Speak Like a Pirate Day".)

Not to be redundant, but PLEASE listen to the Rigby Peter Pan recording between rehearsals...so that all of our hard work stays fresh in your minds.  This is VERY IMPORTANT.

For all cast members involved in Music Man:  I know you are all so extremely busy, but please try to find time to listen to this recording, so that when you join us, the music won't be unfamiliar.

*Tonight we worked on polishing pirate scenes, making cut-offs cleaner & crisper diction & dialect.

Music rehearsed:

All Pirate Numbers: #16, 17, 26, 28 pg.4, 45 pg199, 47

#16 "Pirate March": m.22: cut off quicker on 4th "Yo-ho" so that you come in on "We're bloody buccaneers" on time.

#17 "Hooks' Tango": We ran this with dance break included.  Pirates, make sure that "La-la" harmony (m.33) is sung with more "Pirate fervor" and less "lovely & proper."

#26 "Hook's Tarantella": Pirates, Make diction very crisp & rhythmic on (m.23-37) "When was such a lovely plot...". Make sure pitches on "Bravo's" and "Yo-Ho's" (m.43) are very clean, while keeping that crazy pirate energy going. Make sure to spit out the diction of the words "To the ship" and watch pitches on those as well (m.47).

#28 pg.4: "Bloody Buccaneers reprise": This entrance comes up quickly, don't let it surprise you.  Listen for Tiger Lily & the Indians to say "Ugh-a-wug-a Ostrich" two times, then 8 counts of descending piano, then your theme starts almost immediately at m.41.

#45: "another Bloody Buccaneers reprise": Same as #16, make those cut-offs clean.

#47: "Hook's Waltz": In order to remember the pitches of "Captain Hook" we're writing-in (m.22-34), just listen to the Rigby recording. All sing "Blimy" with Hook m.75, and remember not to slide in m.76 "Slimy".  Starting at m.148, all "Captain Hook's" are cheered (not sung).  At m.165, make sure you keep that same crazed pirate energy when you sing "Crookedest crook", "What a prize, what a joy" and "The scourge of the sea" as you did when you were yelling the cheers.  Don't slide on the final "Captain Hook" m.182, and don't forget to immediately come in on the "Hook hook" cheers right after singing.  Just keep that energy growing throughout this pirate grand finale piece & end it big!

Thanks, pirates!  You sound AMAZING!

-Michelle
